Ideally healthy workplace efforts do not happen in an activity by activity fashion but are part of a broader, comprehensive healthy workplace program that involves activities implemented over time in response to employee needs as part of a well thought out plan.
Promoting more that one healthy lifestyle topic at a time provides many benefits:
- It allows you to promote the prevention of many chronic diseases at the same time (example; heart disease, stroke, diabetes, cancer).
- It provides the most effective way to address obesity prevention (example; encouraging employees to increase their physical activity levels and eat healthy foods).

- It provides programming, which helps employees to understand the many factors that relate to health.
