Our Goal:
Healthy Communities Haldimand-Norfolk will strive to mobilize communities to foster and develop policies that make it easier for residents to be healthy. We will build on current local partnership and coordination structures.
Our target:
- Community groups
- Organizations
- Residents
- Municipal leaders
Locally we will try to:

Coordinate planning, by engaging multiple networks, community leaders and decision makers

Develop a community plan that meets local needs and aligns with ministry priorities

Provide network support and develop partnerships and linkages to other networks to coordinate actions and avoid duplication

Mobilize community leaders, decision makers and organizations to work together to create policies, plans and programs that make it easier Haldimand-Norfolk residents to be healthier
What have we done so far?

Collect data for the development of Haldimand & Norfolk priorities

Developed a healthy Communities report; a report on Healthy communities initiatives in Canada and around the world and how to apply these strategies in Haldimand and Norfolk counties

Held first planning meeting on November 17 2009. 58 people from 31 organizations along with both Mayors came together to learn about the new approach, participated in an environmental scan and developed a vision for Haldimand and Norfolk.

Established a core planning committee to move the planning forward.

June 16 2010 held a second planning session where 74 people from 40 different groups/ organizations/community members attended a brainstorming session to determine the areas that we as a community would like to see as the focus for Haldimand and Norfolk.
